Technology has made it possible to achieve amazing advances in all areas, including body art. Until a few years ago, best tattoo removal techniques could be a little aggressive, some of them leaving anti-aesthetic scars.
But, along with improved technology, this does not happen anymore, new techniques have made significant changes. Such is the case of laser removal and its most recent PicoSure or Picosecond laser method.
Why is PicoSure the best tattoo removal?
PicoSure has been characterized to be more effective than the Q-Switched laser for these reasons:
The technology used by Picosure works through pressure waves that fragment the heat in the different areas of the tattoo, reducing it to tiny particles. After this, the ink is easily removed by phagocytosis, ie thanks to the cells of the immune system that are responsible for removing the strange and possibly risky for our body (a natural process of our body).
While the Q-Swithced laser works in nanoseconds (one-millionth of a second), Picosure works in peak-seconds. You will think that this is perhaps not very significant, but if we translate it into real words, we mean that treatment is much faster than the other. The duration of a peak-second is 100 times shorter than nano-seconds technology.
Finally, PicoSure also removes all types of inks. It is true that Q-Swithced also does, however, this new best tattoo removal occupies the same time in a tattoo that carries one, two or more colors. Although this will also depend on the intensity of the tattoo. Anyway, PicoSure proposes to eliminate the tattoos in less than two sessions.
In a previous study by Laser and Skin Surgery Center of NY, who created the new technique, it was possible to remove a total of 24 tattoos in 22 patients, including multicolored inks.

Even in many of the treatments, tattoos were more than ten years old. This showed that 80 percent managed to clarify overall and 94 percent clarified blue inks (one of the most difficult to remove). What is better, none of the skins showed sequelae or scarring after treatment.
The main disadvantage
Although it is a method that works, it is still being implemented in some markets and there are very few dermatological clinics that use them.
In the United States, for example, very few have them and, because of their low accessibility, it becomes a much more expensive treatment than the others. Each session could cost $900.
